Duck Reach

Visit the site of the first Hydro Electric Power Station in Australia and imagine the challenges faced to create this feat of construction and engineering. Completed in 1895, Duck Reach Power Station provided electricity to the City of Launceston for 40 years.  The Duck Reach Power Station is now an Interpretation Centre.

Walking trails link to the First Basin and Cliff Grounds: First Basin Track. Duck Reach Track. Snake/Reedy Gully Track (map recommended) - steep and uneven terrain. 

Car parking is available on Corin Street, West Launceston - steep steps to the suspension bridge.
