It is important for Council to have a clear view of its priorities and strategic directions. It is also important for the community to have input to the priorities and directions of Council and to be aware of Council's priorities.
Consequently the five-year Strategic Plan has been informed by the community's vision and aspirations in Vision 2020, which was launched in 2006, following substantial community engagement and consultation.
In January 2008, a community survey was undertaken to identify what Council is doing well, what needs the most improvement and what the community's priority actions are for the next five years. This survey has assisted Council's Aldermen and Executive in preparing this proposed Strategic Plan 2008-13.
