Launceston has a number of indoor sports centres and outdoor sporting grounds centrally located throughout the city.

With sporting facilities for netball, softball, basketball, tennis, squash, hockey, cycling, soccer and badminton and a state-of-the-art football ground, Launceston is a regional hub for sporting activities.

Pontoons and jetties in and around Launceston

Windermere Pontoon, Jetty and Boat Ramp
435 Windermere Road (next to St Mathias Church), Windermere
The pontoon is suitable for recreational fishing and boat embarking/disembarking. It is a steel and timber structure.
The jetty is suitable for recreational fishing only. It is a timber structure.
The boat ramp is for launching and retrieving boats. It is a concrete structure.

The Sea Scouts Pontoon is used frequently by Sea Scouts for boat launching and retrieval. It is available for recreational fishing and mooring of boats. Boat mooring fees may apply. The pontoons are steel and timber structures.
Tamar River Cruises Pontoon is used primarily for berthing and departure point of Tamar River Cruises vessels. It is a steel and timber structure.

Royal Park Boat Ramp and Rowing Ramp
Park Street, Launceston
The boat ramp is suitable for launching small to mid-sized recreational vessels. Two parking spots are available that can accommodate an average sized car and boat trailer. Parking fees may be applicable. It is a concrete structure.
The rowing ramp is suitable only for launching rowing shells and kayaks. Used mainly for rowing regattas. It is a concrete structure.
Note: Both facilities are only suitable for use between mid and high tide. Boats can't be launched or retrieved during low tide periods.
