Strategies, plans and reports

The Launceston City Council prepares a number of strategic plans, budgets and reports which guide and direct the future direction of the Council and the municipality. It is important for the Council to have a clear view of its priorities and strategic directions. It is also important for the community to have input to the priorities and directions of the Council and to be aware of the Council's priorities.

Launceston Vision 2020

Launceston Vision 2020 is a statement about our future. It is a plan and a vision for Launceston developed by Council in consultation with the local community.

2012/13 Annual Plan
An important part of Council's planning process is its Annual Plan. The Annual Plan details the major actions the Council will undertake in a financial year to work towards achieving the strategies outlined in the Council's five-year Strategic Plan.
The plan is released annually at the beginning of the financial year and the Council reports on progress against the Annual Plan every quarter.

Strategic Plan 2008-2013
In January 2008, a community survey was undertaken to identify what Council is doing well, what needs the most improvement and what the community's priority actions are for the next five years. This survey has assisted Council's Aldermen and Executive in preparing the Strategic Plan 2008-2013.

Council's Ten Year Major Works Program
The Council delivers and supports a huge range of local services, including more than $850 million of community assets and undertakes an annual capital works program of around $50 million. The Council has allocated more than $373 million in major works in our City over 10 years (including $116 million for water and sewer works which transferred to the new corporation).

Annual Report

The Council's Annual Report profiles the Launceston region and Council, identifies the Council's objectives for the financial year as established in its Annual Plan in line with Launceston's Vision 2020, monitors and reports on the Council's performance in accordance with those objectives, demonstrates the Council's commitment to reporting to the Launceston community in an open, accurate and transparent manner and aims to satisfy the Council's statutory responsibilities under the Local Government Act 1993 and other legislation.

The Launceston City Council's Events Strategy (January 2012)
The purpose of the Event Sponsorship Program is to support, and provide incentive for, community events held in the Launceston City Council Municipality that contribute to a diverse, vibrant and strategically balanced City events program and which result in social, economic, environmental and city image outcomes for the Launceston community.

DRAFT Launceston Street Tree Strategy (October 2011)
The recently approved DRAFT Launceston Street Tree Strategy by the Council is available for public comment over a six week period starting from Saturday 22 October to Monday 5 December 2011. Launceston residents can have their say in a number of ways by:

1. Sending a written submission to the Launceston City Council, Launceston's Draft Street Tree Strategy, PO Box 396, Launceston 7250.
2. Emailing council@launceston.tas.gov.au
3. Logging onto the Council's online community engagement tool, Your voice. Your Launceston. at www.yourvoiceyourlaunceston.com.au where you can make a comment and/or join in the online forum. Your privacy is protected because these online discussion forums are moderated by an independent organisation.
