The Regional Waste Levy
All disposal fees that relate to residual waste going to landfill will now have a Regional Waste Levy (RWL) amount applied. The RWL amount that has been agreed by the eight northern member councils is $3.50 per tonne (GST is not applicable to the amount charged). This amount has been added to the disposal fees as well as any other increases associated with the review.

The levy will provide an annual ongoing funding stream to enable projects that support waste minimisation and recycling programs throughout the northern region into the future.

The landfill site and transfer station for the Launceston area is situated at Remount Road, Launceston
