Volunteer Recognition Awards
The Volunteer Recognition Awards are presented each year by the Launceston City Council. The Council recognises the contributions of hundreds of local volunteers during National Volunteers Week in May by seeking nominations for the awards.The awards are open to anyone over the age of 12 years who performs voluntary work within the Launceston municipality.
Nominations are sought for 2013 in the following categories:
Hours of Service - Organisation/Group
Council issues certificates during National Volunteer Week to organisations that have collectively provided 100 hours or more voluntary service to the Launceston community over a calendar year (2012).
Hours of Service - Individual Volunteer
Council issues recognition certificates during National Volunteer Week to individual volunteers who have provided 200, 500, 1000 and 5000 hours or more of voluntary service to the Launceston community.
Outstanding Achievement Award
Council also recognises individuals or community organisations/groups who have provided outstanding voluntary service to the Launceston community at a ceremony at the Town Hall during National Volunteer Week.
Outstanding Achievement Awards are issued in the areas:
- Arts, Culture and Heritage
- Sport and Recreation
- Environment, Conservation and Animal Welfare
- Community, Health and Education
- Community Safety and Emergency Services
Nomination are open from Monday 4 March 2013 to Friday 5 April 2013.
