Upper Blessington Road Bridge Upgrade

The City of Launceston will be proceeding with a renewal project on the Upper Blessington Road Bridge on Monday, 19 April 2021.

We will be replacing the current bridge with a new single span, concrete structure which will be 300mm higher to avoid the risk of flooding during high rainfall events.

The bridge will need to be closed for two weeks to allow for the works to be completed. During this time there will be a temporary bridge structure in place whilst the existing bridge is being replaced. It is important to note that these dates may change due to unforeseen issues and/or weather. We will endeavour to reduce the impact and minimise inconvenience as much as possible, however we do ask that you please obey all signage and exercise caution within the works area.

UPDATE 12/05/2021: The deck on the new bridge has now been placed. The next stage will be to reinstate the road entering and exiting the new bridge, this has now begun.
