Petitions

A petition is one way for you to formally bring a matter to the attention of the Council.

To ensure your petition is tabled at a Council meeting, your petition must:

  • provide the minimum detail required by the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas) - in particular, see section 57 of that Act
  • not be defamatory; and
  • not propose action that is unlawful.

For more information, see Part 6 - Petitions, polls and public meetings of the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas).
