Rent Relief for use of Council Facilities

Since the declaration of the State of Emergency by the State Government, Council staff have stopped sending out invoices for rent on Council-owned buildings and sporting facilities.

All rent on Council-owned buildings and sporting facilities will be waived for a period of six (6) months.

This waiver will not include the cost of utilities (such as Aurora and TasWater), which are subject to separate fee relief programs being offered by those government-owned organisations. It will be the responsibility of the tenant to contact the relevant utilities provider to obtain fee relief.

For example, TasWater has announced a 100 per cent rebate for small businesses issued from April 1 to June 30, 2020. This will apply to TasWater customers that receive electricity tariff 22, 94, 82 or 75.

Outstanding rent for use of Council facilities prior to the State of Emergency will still be invoiced as normal.
