2018 Launceston Cycling Festival
Join us on Sunday the 11th of November for the 2018 Launceston Cycling Festival, incorporating the Stan Siejka Launceston Cycling Classic. This annual event is a favourite for cycling enthusiasts across Tasmania and the country, for its entertainment and inclusion of world-renowned cycling athletes competing on the day.
About the Launceston Cycling Festival
The Launceston Cycling Classic came into existence on the back of two local Launceston riders who were out on a bike ride in 2002. In conversation, they thought "wouldn't it be good to get a whole bunch of pro-cyclists around the city and recreate the atmosphere of a European race right in the middle of town". Those two riders sparking the idea for the Launceston Cycling Classic were the late Stan Siejka and former professional cyclist Tom Sawyer.
The event is now considered one of the best one-day criterium events in Australia, and in recent years has featured not only our very own local Richie Porte, but four-time Tour de France Champion, Chris Froome.
An event not to be missed
The annual Launceston Cycling Festival is a fantastic day out for the entire family and cycling enthusiasts alike. With viewpoints from around the city centre, you have the opportunity to watch the live action right from the heart of Launceston. The festival attracts crowds through the Launceston city centre, creating a day of excitement and entertainment for everyone involved.
