Safety & Supervision
Keeping Focused on Keeping Safe We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable visit - especially children.
Our big red tipping bucket (with over 600 litres of water each tip!), play equipment, multiple pools, older children, increasing water depth, water features, lots of people and noises are very exciting but can also very quickly lead to young children getting out of their depth and into difficulty. If you are in the centre with children we need you to be ready to take action when this happens.
The best method of ensuring children don’t get into difficulty and don’t have to be rescued by one of our lifeguards is to ensure they are appropriately supervised by a competent person over the age of 16. Children under the age of 6 must be directly supervised in the water at all times. This means the adult must be in the water and within reach of the child at all times. In most cases children at this age have not started or have just started full time school. In a big fun public place like Launceston Aquatic we need you to be within arms reach - plus this means you get to enjoy some of the fun as well! In recognition of this requirement we charge less for children under the age of six. Children under the age of 11 years are accompanied and supervised at all times in the Centre by a parent or responsible adult over the age of 16 years.
Thousands of people visit our Centre each week - it’s a big exciting and busy place! Additionally, the Centre team of employees change throughout the day — at times we may have up to 10 different lifeguards rotating throughout the Centre. This means that our team members are not able to look after the welfare of children under the age of 11 - we expect a parent of guardian to be responsible for that role. Children under the age of 11 are typically still in Primary School and should not be left without a responsible person looking after them in the Centre. It is important for you to know that children who are under the age of 11 and are not with a person over the age of 16 will not be allowed into the Centre.
Grab a coffee and catch up with friends while still keeping an eye on your children. If your children are under the age of 11, please ensure they are appropriately supervised.
