Celebrating Hawthorn’s contribution to our community
Published on 18 August 2025
Hawthorn Football Club has been part of Launceston’s story for more than two decades, and their commitment to the Northern Tasmanian community continues to grow.
The Hawks recently announced the expansion of their Hawthorn College of Sport to Launceston, in partnership with the Box Hill Institute. The dual-diploma program in Sport, Leadership and Management will provide local students with hands-on opportunities to build careers in the sporting industry – right here at UTAS Stadium.
Students will benefit from:
• Face-to-face learning at UTAS Stadium, combined with online study
• Guest speakers from Hawthorn’s staff, players, and coaches
• Study trips to Melbourne
• 100 hours of work immersion and networking opportunities
This initiative is another example of the Hawks’ deep connection to our city, and their ongoing investment in the future of Northern Tasmanian young people.
We thank Hawthorn for the positive impact they continue to have on our region, and we’re looking forward to seeing the next generation of leaders they’ll inspire.
An information session will be held at the Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery on Wednesday, August 27 at 6pm and all are welcome.
