Landowner Consent Application

Welcome to the City of Launceston's online Landowner Consent Application portal. This streamlined process allows you to apply for consent to develop council-owned or managed land.

What is Landowner Consent?

Landowner consent is required from the City of Launceston's Chief Executive Officer for any proposed development that impacts council-owned or managed land. This ensures that all activities on our land align with community interests and regulatory requirements.

Before You Apply

  1. Do you currently have a lease agreement with Council.
  2. If a current Lease with Council exists, are you aware that the proposed development may need an amendment to your current lease.
  3. Does your proposal require other forms of planning i.e Development Application, Building Application
  4. Confirm Land Ownership: Ensure the property in your application is council-owned or managed. If you’re unsure, contact our Customer Service Centre at 6323 3000 for assistance.
  5. Other Authorities: If the land is owned or managed by other entities (e.g., Crown Land, State Growth, or National Parks and Reserves), you may need to obtain formal written consent from those authorities. Visit planbuild.tas.gov.au for more details.
  6. Application Requirements: Your application proposal cannot proceed without written Landowner consent from the City of Launceston for any council-owned or managed land involved in your proposal.

How to Apply
  1. Complete the Online Form (via the link below): Provide all required details, including property information, proposed use, or development, and supporting documents.

  2. Submit Your Application: Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the City of Launceston.
  3. Await Approval: You’ll be notified of the outcome or any additional information required in no more than 30 days.

  • Time required to process my application? 30 days
  • Can council help pay ? Council funding projects is a separate process to landowner consent. Please contact Customer Service for Further Information.
  • Does this process take place of a letter of support? No, Letter of support is still relevant and will continue to be used for community requests to seek external funding.
