Feature Lighting Application

Application for Illuminating Town Hall

The City of Launceston offers feature lighting at selected locations across the city to recognise and support significant events and awareness campaigns that promote positive community outcomes.

This service is available for eligible organisations and community groups in line with Council’s Feature Lighting Policy(PDF, 148KB).

Applications are assessed against the Policy and are subject to availability.

Who can apply

Applications are considered for events or initiatives that:

  • Are widely recognised national events represented in multiple states or territories
  • Are of national or international significance
  • Promote positive and unifying community outcomes

Requests of a commercial or politically sensitive nature are not eligible.

How to apply

Before applying, read the Feature Lighting Policy(PDF, 148KB)  to ensure your request meets the eligibility and requirements.

  1. Review the Feature Lighting Policy
  2. Submit an online application at least four weeks before to your requested date
  3. Council will review your request against the Policy
  4. You will be notified of the outcome via email


What happens next

Applications are reviewed in accordance with the Feature Lighting Policy(PDF, 148KB) , including:

  • Eligibility criteria
  • Availability of locations and dates
  • Safety considerations

While every application is carefully considered, it may not be possible to support all requests.
