We Have Room For You In Launnie - Loneliness Awareness Week 3 - 7 August 2026

The City of Launceston has collaborated with local community organisations to highlight some of Launnie's social events in Loneliness Awareness Week. Welcome to Launnie will also be a part of this celebration of events, a new resident morning tea to connect with Council, each other, and the broader community.

In Launceston there are an incredible number of social spaces and organisations that are important to celebrate, as they provide ongoing points of connection to the community, for example, libraries, community centres, parks, community gardens and sports clubs. Council is shining a light on these existing local assets and promoting some of the ways the local community may choose to connect during Loneliness Awareness Week and beyond.

Loneliness is a significant and growing health issue in Australia, with around one in three people experiencing it at any given time. National organisations such as Ending Loneliness Together work to help people feel more connected, however there is more that we can do at a grass roots level to address this growing problem within our community.

We Have Room For You In Launnie events are found here and please RSVP to Sarah.McCormack@launceston.tas.gov.au or call 0428 109 948 to attend Welcome to Launnie, Tuesday 4 August, 10.30am - 11.30am, Town Hall Reception Room.
