The Road Safety Centre is back and better than ever!

The Launceston Road Safety Centre is a fun, traffic-themed outdoor play centre where kids can ride bikes, scooters or rollerblades on a mini road network with real traffic lights, signs and crossings.

Perfect for birthday parties and family get-togethers, the centre is fully fenced with a sheltered picnic area, BBQ, flood lights, accessible toilet and more.

We recommend a maximum of 30 children per visit for safety and comfort.

Bookings are essential and can be made up to six months in advance. The cost is $37 per two-hour session for exclusive use of the whole facility.

A maximum of two sessions can be booked per day. Fees must be paid at the time of booking.

What do I need to bring?

Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, etc.
Helmets, which must be worn at all times.
Your own first aid kit.

Please be aware that smoking, vaping and consumption of alcohol are strictly prohibited at the Road Safety Centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I visit the centre without a booking?

No. The Road Safety Centre is only accessible via a confirmed booking. It is not available for drop-in visits. This helps us manage safety, maintenance, and fair access for all users.

Can I reserve a spot and pay later?

All sessions must be paid for at the time of booking. They cannot be reserved. Any unpaid bookings will be automatically cancelled.

How far in advance can I book?

Bookings open six months in advance on a rolling basis.
For example:

If you'd like to book the 9am–11am session on 1 July, it will be available from 11am on 1 January.
If you'd like to book the 2pm–4pm session on 31 March, it will be available from 4pm on 1 October the year before.

Can I transfer or sell my booking to someone else?

No. Bookings are strictly non-transferable. The person who made the booking must be present. Re-selling or swapping bookings (including through social media) is not permitted.

How long is each session?

Each booking session is two hours.

Can I book the centre for the whole day?

No. The maximum you can book is two sessions per day.

If you book two consecutive sessions, you’ll have 4.5 hours of exclusive use.
For example, if you book the 9.00am–11.00am session followed by the 11.30am–1.30pm session, your total booking time will be 4.5 hours. This includes a 30-minute break between sessions.

Once you have logged in or registered for an account to place a booking, complete the following steps:

Use the "Find Availability" date picker to browse for availability.
Choose the date and time making sure the time chosen in the booking match the "from" and "to" times entered beside it.
When correct, click "Continue to Pricing & Confirmation".
Review all information and click "Complete Booking".
Make payment.

Can I pay in cash for my booking?

Yes, you can make a booking and pay in cash by visiting our Customer Service Centre during business hours.

What if I arrive late? Will I still be able to enter the centre?

Your 6-digit code will work for the duration of your booked session.

For example, if your booking slot commences at 9am and you arrive at 9.30am, you'll be able to enter and use the centre until the end of your booked sessions. A 2-hour session this would be until 11am and for a 4.5-hour session this would be until 1.30pm.

Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?

Bookings are non-refundable but may be rescheduled to a new date within six months of the original booking.
To reschedule, log into your account and submit a request at least 7 calendar days before your scheduled session.
