The City of Launceston is currently undertaking a roads and footpath condition assessment program.

The work involves the use of quad bikes and a van equipped with sensor technology, including computers and GPS-enabled high resolution cameras.

This program will allow the Council to better assess the condition of roads and footpaths across the municipality against Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia standards, as well as aiding in the prioritisation of future works.

The program will be underway across Launceston over the next two weeks, and the Council asks motorists and pedestrians to be mindful of these slow moving vehicles which may be operating on both roads and footpaths.
