Cataract Gorge Reserve - First Basin

The main entrance leads to Launceston's beautiful Cataract Gorge and first basin, a recreation hub to swim, walk, run, dine, enjoy nature and simply relax.

Temporary Closure : Hydro Tasmania will be releasing water through the Trevallyn Dam this weekend, which will close the causeway in the First Basin from Saturday morning.
The First Basin can still be accessed via the Alexandra Suspension Bridge or the Gorge Scenic Chairlift.
We ask that you please refrain from swimming in the First Basin and follow the direction of all signage.
