Lodging an application electronically for Certification of Building Plans

Your application may be submitted by email in PDF format or in person at the Town Hall Customer Service Centre.  All documents must be separated into individual forms and clearly state the address of the building work.

When documents have been received and payment confirmed, t
he Building Surveyor will assess your application and documentation for the issue of a Certificate of Likely Compliance (Building Work) and referral to the City of Launceston Plumbing Department and Permit Authority for issue of the relevant Certificates and Permits, if applicable.

To start the process, the following documents are required:

  • Architectural / Working Drawings including Site Plan to be prepared by a licensed Building Designer or Architect and
  • Form 35 - Certificate of Responsible Designer

    Select your Designer based on their professional expertise and suitability to you and your project, ensuring that for Building Designers and Architects they are licensed to practice within Tasmania. Check your designer is licensed.  

  • Engineer Drawings and
  • Form 35 - Certificate of Responsible Designer and /or
  • Form 55 - Certificate of Qualified Person - Assessable Item

  • A Soil Report for new dwellings, larger extensions or problem sites
  • Form 55 - Certificate of Qualified Person - Assessable Item
    This is to be provided by a Geotechnical Engineer and will determine the footing/slab system design.
    Full Copy of the Certificate of Title with Schedule of Easements (2 pages) You can obtain a copy of Certificate of Title by using the search facility on The LIST or by visiting Service Tasmania shop.
  • Bushfire Report / BAL Assessment (if applicable) and
  • Form 55 - Certificate of Qualified Person - Assessable Item
  • Energy Efficient Design and
  • Form 55 - Certificate of Qualified Person - Assessable Item
  • Consult a Building Designer to ensure you maximise the energy efficient design of your home. Currently requirements are a 6 star rating.
