Term expires as Councillor: 2026
First elected: 2025
Born and raised in Launceston, I am married to David, a retired teacher, and together we have four children. We are excited to soon welcome our first grandchild. Our family also includes Sybil, our beautiful blue whippet, who brings joy to our home.
My professional background spans media promotions, city retail, hairdressing, and small business ownership. Currently, I am employed at the Launceston General Hospital, with experience in the John Morris Diabetes Centre, Specialist Clinic, and now the Emergency Department. I am proud to serve as a HACSU delegate, advocating for my colleagues and the community.
Community involvement has always been important to me. I have been active on school advisory committees and in fundraising efforts throughout my children’s education. For many years, I served as a member of the Rotary Club of South Launceston, taking on roles such as club president, assistant district governor, and member of Australian Rotary Health. Volunteering and fundraising are passions of mine, allowing me to give back to the community.
I am committed to advocating for issues that impact our city and families. Whether marching in the streets of Launceston or challenging decisions I believe are misguided, I strive to make a positive difference. Recently, I have taken on the responsibilities of carer and enduring guardian, gaining valuable insight into the systems and challenges in that space.
My service on the previous City of Launceston Council for 18 months was a privilege, including chairing the newly formed homelessness committee. In July 2022, I moved a motion to amend the Local Government Act, advocating for mandatory police checks, criminal history disclosures, and working with vulnerable people cards for all council candidates.
I am passionate about a holistic approach to community wellbeing, fostering strong neighbourhood relationships, and supporting local groups. I look forward to seeing micro business startups flourish and niche night-time ventures boost our local economy. I am committed to enhancing Launceston’s iconic buildings for tourism and encouraging creative venues, as well as maintaining our tree canopy for cooler suburbs. I believe in creating pet-friendly spaces to make our city more welcoming.
Serving as a Councillor in Launceston, both in the city and surrounding suburbs, is an honour. I respect the responsibilities of public service and value its impact on our community.
