Resident waste centre vouchers

Each year, the City of Launceston provides households one voucher for free entry to a Council-managed waste centre at any time throughout the year.  The voucher allows residents a single free entry to a Council-managed waste centre to dispose of domestic items.

Vouchers are redeemable at either of the City of Launceston waste centres. For locations and details go to:

Using your waste entry voucher

Waste entry vouchers are valid for City of Launceston residents only.

If you are redeeming your voucher at the Launceston Waste Centre, it will need to be validated at the recycling centre prior to disposing of items — this is to ensure any recyclables and reusable items are diverted from landfill.

In addition to your waste voucher, you will need to provide proof of your City of Launceston address upon arrival at Launceston Waste Centre and Lilydale Transfer Station.

Accepted forms of proof of residence include:

  • A driver’s licence
  • Pensioner’s concession card (Australian)
  • Current utilities bill from the last quarter – this includes electricity, gas and phone or internet but excludes water
  • Vehicle registration
  • Current rental agreement

The following cannot be disposed of using a voucher:

  • Controlled waste
    - Controlled or hazardous waste
    - Asbestos
    - Contaminated soil
  • Tyres
  • Fridges or Freezers
  • Mattresses

Please note, loads considered to be larger than "domestic" in size are not permitted entry with a voucher and will instead be charged as per the normal disposal fees.

Changes to waste voucher delivery
From 1 July 2026, our waste vouchers are going digital andwill not be posted to households. Annual waste vouchers will continue to be available to Launceston residents with vouchers now available digitally instead of in paper form. This change will make it easier for residents to access their vouchers when needed, reduce the risk of vouchers being lost or misplaced.

From 1 July, there will be three ways to claim your waste voucher:

  • Via our new Waste and Recycling app, LoopedIn Councils
  • Online - you'll be able to enter your address and download your voucher on this page
  • By visiting our Customer Service Centre at Town Hall, 18-28 St John Street, Launceston. Our friendly Customer Service staff can print your voucher for you
