Council reaffirms Birchalls redevelopment decision

The City of Launceston has today reaffirmed its decision to partner with the Birchalls Consortium regarding the redevelopment of the Birchalls site.

After an extensive and thorough national campaign that attracted several potential development proposals, the Council is excited and proud that a local development consortium has been selected to partner with the council on this generationally significant development.

Following a decision of the Council in a closed session at today's meeting, the City of Launceston can confirm that it expects the project to progress as planned and looks forward to announcing full details of the redevelopment with our partners in the coming fortnight.

The Birchalls project is a transformative project that directly aligns with the Council's Strategic Plan 2025-35.
