Planning is underway for the City of Launceston's Music in the Park 2026 summer concert series – the free, family-friendly celebration of live music that has become a beloved fixture in the Launnie community’s calendar.

Held in Launceston's iconic City Park, Music in the Park brings together local and emerging musical artists for a series of relaxed Sunday afternoon performances throughout January and February each summer.

The series showcases the incredible talent of Northern Tasmanian musicians and performers while offering residents and visitors a chance to unwind, connect, and enjoy live music in one of Launceston’s most beautiful settings – all at no cost.

Each year, a core group of local bands and performers support the Music in the Park series, but the Council is also seeking new talent for 2026.

With seven concerts scheduled as part of the 2026 series — up one from last year — the City of Launceston is inviting musical performers and bands to submit an Expression of Interest to be considered for the performer lineup.

Interested artists are encouraged to send an email to ArtsAndCulture@launceston.tas.gov.au including:

Artist/band name and contact details

A short bio (150 words max)

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 12 November at 5pm.

Successful applicants will be contacted in late November, with the official 2026 Music in the Park lineup announced in early December 2025.

City of Launceston Acting Mayor Hugh McKenzie said Music in the Park continued to grow in popularity each year thanks to the quality and diversity of local talent.

“Music in the Park is more than just a concert series – it’s a celebration of our creative community and a cornerstone of summer in Launceston,” Cr McKenzie said.

“This event supports the People pillar of our Strategic Plan 2025–2035 by fostering cultural participation, bringing people together, and showcasing the artistic heartbeat of our city.

"Over the years we've had all kinds of musical styles represented as part of the series, including folk, rock, jazz, brass bands, and more. We can’t wait to see who steps up for 2026.”
