Night works scheduled for Invermay Road

As part of its annual road resealing program, the City of Launceston will next week undertake resealing works on Invermay Road, between Vermont Road and Foch Street in Mowbray.

The resealing project will involve night works between 7pm and 7am, from Tuesday November 8 until Friday November 11, weather permitting.

Partial road closures and detours will be in place and some off-street parking will be limited during the night works; however, access to local properties and businesses will be maintained.

The road will be reopened to the public from 7am each day.

The $160,000 upgrade will see a 500m-long section of roadway, equivalent to 6500 square metres of road pavement, resealed with 640 tonnes of asphalt.

The project will also involve updates to line marking to meet contemporary standards.

Launceston Mayor Danny Gibson said the existing road surface had reached the end of its lifespan and was due for replacement.

"This reseal project represents a significant investment in a strategically important road corridor which links our Northern suburbs with the city centre," Mayor Gibson said.

"The upgrade will have benefits for all road users, replacing sections of road which are more than 20 years old in some areas.

"We ask motorists to please obey any traffic management signage which may be in place throughout the works, and to always drive to the conditions."
