The City of Launceston is overseeing small, controlled pile burns in some parks and reserves in the lead-up to summer, weather depending.

Pile burns have now been completed at:

The Cataract Gorge Cliff Grounds / Trevallyn Reserve

Meadow Ridge Reserve

Pile burns are also planned for:

Thrower Street Reserve

These burns are part of the Council's seasonal bushfire mitigation program.

The objective of the program is to reduce ground fuel loads, lowering bushfire risk ahead of the warmer summer months.

Nearby residents will receive written notification in advance of the planned burns. Temporary signage will also be displayed on-site during the activity period.

The City of Launceston thanks the community for its understanding and cooperation while these important risk-reduction works are undertaken.
