The City of Launceston's annual hard waste collection service is an opportunity for Launceston residents to reuse, recycle and dispose of larger items that would not normally fit in the weekly kerbside collection bin.

Whether it's an old desk, couch, fridge or hat stand, the annual hard waste collection is a fantastic chance for Launceston residents to get rid of those unwanted larger items cluttering up the house.

The service is in addition to the Council's weekly kerbside collection service, the fortnightly recycling and FOGO collection service, pensioner concessions, and annual free entry vouchers to the Launceston Waste Centre supplied to each rateable property.

In 2018 there were 1000 registrations for the City of Launceston's hard waste collection service. More than 82 tonnes of hard waste were collected, with more than 60 per cent of the collected material either resold by City Mission or recycled.

A collection charge of $10 per registration will apply in 2019 to help offset the cost of the program and to ensure it remains a sustainable annual service for ratepayers.
