Two free school holiday events will be held in Launceston this week.

Tomorrow, Skate Park Leagues is hosting a skate competition at the Ravenswood Skate Park, starting at 11am.

The event will feature BMX and inline skate events, scooters, a skate competition, and a barbecue. On Saturday, Riverbend Park will host a series of live music acts as part of the Tasmanian Rock Challenge Series.

Riverbend Rock will be held between 11am and 4pm, and will feature talented live music acts from Northern Tasmanian schools and food vans.

Both events are free, COVID-safe, smoke and alcohol free, and fun for all ages.

Launceston Acting Mayor Danny Gibson said the events would offer Northern Tasmania's talented young people an opportunity to showcase their skills.

"These events will be a really fun and dynamic demonstration of skateboarding and musical prowess, and I'm thrilled to see them being hosted in Launceston," Cr Gibson said.

"If you've been struggling to find activities for the family in the school holidays, look no further.

"These two events are a great incentive to get out and explore two popular recreational facilities in Launceston and I hope people enjoy what's on offer."
