Mother's Day is a day to celebrate the mums, mother figures and mentors in our lives.

However, for those who are grieving, separated from, or missing their mother it can be a very challenging time.

On Friday, May 10, the Carr Villa Memorial Park will host a Mother's Day Memorial Service at the facility's Chapel, and members of the Northern Tasmanian community are invited to attend.

The service will offer those attending an opportunity to reflect and remember those mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, and motherly figures who may no longer be with us.

Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said he hoped the service would bring comfort to families and individuals who had experienced the loss of a mother.

"Losing a parent can be an enormously difficult and challenging experience for people," Mayor Garwood said.

"We wanted to offer this Memorial Service as a way for people who have experienced the loss of a mother to have somewhere to come on prior to Mother's Day and to be with others who have been through a

similar experience.

We hope it will be a celebration of the impact mothers have had on our lives and a chance to reflect in a positive way on the maternal relationships that have made us who we are."

The Carr Villa Memorial Park's Mother's Day Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 10, from 10.30am at the facility's chapel, accessed off Quarantine Road.
