If forecast weather conditions remain favourable, the City of Launceston will today undertake a fuel reduction burn at the Tasman Highway Bushland Reserve, St Leonards.
This is one of 14 sites we've identified for fuel reduction burns as part of our 2023 program.
Detailed operational plans have been prepared for each burn including risk assessments and smoke modelling and dispersion.
While fire intensity is expected to be low, the burn will generate flames, smoke and ash which may persist until the next rainfall event.
People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn.
