Snow Updates City of Launceston

While the snow fall across Launceston looks amazing, there are a number of hazards across the city to be aware of today on your daily travels.

  • Roads are particularly slippery so please take care when driving today.
  • Some roads have experienced flooding, please drive carefully and to your surrounding conditions.
  • Some roads may also be closed - to check updates on road closures, visit the Tasmania Police website for further details.
  • The snow fall has impacted rubbish collection routines today, please be patient with us as we work around the conditions. For any questions about your waste collection please call our Customer Service Department on 6323 3000
  • Our crews are out and about today clearing drains and removing fallen trees that have been identified across Launceston.
  • The Cataract Gorge and all walking tracks within are currently closed due to safety risks. Please note: the cataract walkway is now open for pedestrians, please remain aware of your surroundings while travelling through this space.
  • We encourage everyone to be alert and cautious when walking through parks across the City - falling trees and limbs are a high possibility from the weather overnight.

Facility Updates

  • Our waste transfer centre is currently inaccessible. We are anticipating being able to reopen by 12 noon today.
  • CarrVilla is currently closed for all visitation. Funerals will remain unaffected.
  • The Margaret Street Childcare Centre is currently closed.
