Due to rain and wet ground conditions, scheduled works on McKellar Road have been postponed and will now commence from Tuesday, 3 March 2026, weather permitting.

10 February 2026

The City of Launceston will be reconstructing deteriorating road pavement on McKellar Road, between Kintail Crescent and Talbot Road. The works will be completed by Crossroads Civil Contracting on behalf of the City of Launceston.

The project involves reconstructing the road pavement by removing the existing asphalt, replacing sections of road base, and applying a new asphalt surface. No footpath, stormwater or kerb and channel works are included in this project.

The upcoming works will be completed over a 4-week construction period, commencing March 2026.

Please note timing of works is subject to weather and unforeseen events may alter programming.

Works will commence at Kintail Crescent and progress toward Talbot Road. Minor traffic delays are expected during construction. Property access will be maintained at all times, and kerbside waste collection will continue as normal.

Please proceed with caution through the work zone and follow all signage and directions from on-site personnel.

Temporary Traffic Changes

During construction, changed traffic conditions will be necessary to allow the works to be completed safely and efficiently. This will include a reduced 40km/h speed limit through the work zone, with stop/slow traffic management.

Please allow for moderate traffic delays and extra time to travel. Please proceed with caution through the work zones and follow all signage and directions from onsite personnel.

Property access will be maintained throughout the duration of works.
