Park Street Amenities Block Upgrade
The City of Launceston will be upgrading the existing Park Street amenities block at Royal Park, with works to be delivered by T-Built Construction on behalf of the City of Launceston.
The project will involve the demolition of the current toilet block and the installation of a new prefabricated amenities facility. The upgraded block will include five single toilet cubicles, one DDA-compliant accessible toilet and one Changing Places facility.
A Changing Places facility is a fully equipped public bathroom designed for people with high support needs. It includes a height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench and a ceiling-mounted hoist, with a toilet and shower, providing a safe, dignified and inclusive space that goes beyond standard accessible toilets. These accredited facilities are not publicly accessible and require a registered Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK). Funding for this facility has been secured through a Department of Premier and Cabinet grant.
This will be the City of Launceston’s second Changing Places facility, following the first located at the Paterson Street West car park.
No public showers will be provided within the new amenities block, aside from the shower incorporated within the Changing Places facility, which is not accessible without a registered MLAK.
Prior to the commencement of works, the Strike It Out lockers will be relocated. During construction, temporary toilets will be in place nearby for public use.
The upcoming works will be completed over an 8-week construction period, commencing April 2026, weather permitting.

During construction, a temporary reduction of parking spaces will be required for the construction zone and placement of temporary toilet facilities.
