Participation in March by Veterans’ Relatives and Associations

The Launceston RSL supports the participation of Veterans' relatives and Descendant Associations in the Anzac Day March. Their participation is not to cause detriment to any Veterans or Veterans' Associations who are part of the official and authorised March groupings.

The following rules should be followed:

  1. No more than two relatives are to march with individual Veterans.
  2. Veterans' relatives and Descendant Associations who do not have  relatives marching in official and authorised groups, or are relatives of deceased Veterans, are not to join any Groups, Units or Associations unless invited by Veterans and Rule 1 still applies. This will be monitored by the Anzac Day Marshalls.
  3. Veterans' relatives and Descendant Associations not invited to join a group may join the March in Green Group G8 behind the banner titled Families of Veterans and Descendant Veteran Associations. There are no limits to the number of participants in this group and you are permitted to carry Groups', Units' or Associations' flags or banners.
  4. Veterans' relatives and Descendant Associations who do not follow these rules will be asked by Marshalls to leave the March and will not be allowed to participate.
Dress and Decorations

Participants should be respectfully dressed in keeping with this solemn commemoration. T-shirts, singlets, inappropriate foot wear (thongs) and track pants should not be worn.

Medals and decorations are to be worn by participants. Please remember that the Active Service Badge or the Operational Service Badge should not be worn with full size medals. Also, please note that non-service commemorative medals, unofficial and state awards should not be worn on the left breast with official honours and awards.
