This free community event will take place at City Park between 5pm and 8pm. Gates open at 3pm.

Bring a picnic and enjoy a magical evening of entertainment featuring local performers, and a very special guest from the North Pole! 

The City of Launceston Carols in the Park 2025 is proudly sponsored by McGrath and the official media partner is The Examiner.

City Park will be closed for event set-up until 3pm Sunday 21 December. The monkey enclosure viewing platform will be open during the event but closed outside event hours in line with the park closure. City Park will reopen on Tuesday 23 December.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of candles are allowed in City Park

Only battery-operated candles are allowed due to the damage wax candles can cause to the grass. Battery-operated candles will be available for purchase at the event. Please note this is a cashless event, so card payments are required.

What food options will be available?

A Rotary Club BBQ, coffee vans, Swirlz and Little Devils donuts will be available in the park throughout the evening. Payment options vary between vendors.

We also invite you to bring along a picnic or treat yourself to delicious options from the many local food businesses open on Sunday prior to the Carols. 

Will there be coffee?

Yes, coffee vans will be on-site for your caffeine fix.

Are water stations available?

Water stations will be available throughout the park. We encourage attendees to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

What kind of seating is permitted?

A designated area will be available for those with low line folding chairs and picnic blankets. Taller camp chairs are also welcome but will need to be set up in a designated area behind the low line chairs to ensure clear sightlines for everyone. Please be mindful of others when choosing your spot.

 

Is accessible seating available?

Yes, accessible seating and access will be provided. If you require assistance, our team will be happy to help on the day.

Are dogs allowed?

No, dogs are not permitted at the event, except for registered assistance animals.

Is this a smoke-free event?

Yes, Carols in the Park is a smoke-free event.

Is there parking available?

What parking options are available? A range of on-street and off-street car park options are available in Launceston. For more details, visit:

What time do the gates open?

Gates will open at 3.00pm.

Where do I go for lost property?

Lost property will be managed at the Information tent. If you’ve misplaced something, head there for assistance.

What should I do if I lose my child?

A lost children’s area will also be located near the Information tent, this will be well signed. Please inform a City of Launceston staff member immediately if you need assistance.

Is first aid available?

Yes, first aid services will be available on-site to handle any medical needs during the event. 

 

Will the event go ahead in all weather?

Carols in the Park will go ahead in all weather conditions unless extreme such as lightning and strong winds. If the event has to be cancelled it will communicated on the event Facebook post and City of Launceston website. Please note that the UV index on Sunday 21 December is extreme (11), please ensure you remember sunscreen and skin protection.
