Dying to Know Day: Opening Doors and Opening Conversations
Next date: Friday, 08 August 2025 | 09:00 AM
to 10:00 AM
Carr Villa Memorial Park is once again opening its doors, and opening the conversation, as part of the national Dying to Know Day campaign, held annually on Friday 8 August.
Dying to Know Day is an initiative designed to reduce the stigma around death, dying and grief, and to empower individuals to learn about, discuss, and plan for their own end-of-life care before it's needed.
To mark the occasion, Carr Villa will host two FREE guided tours of the Chapel and Crematorium complex at 9:00am and 10:00am on Friday 8 August 2025, running 45 minutes each.
These behind-the-scenes tours offer a rare opportunity for the community to explore the cremation process in a safe, respectful, and informative setting, guided by the experienced Carr Villa team.
Participants will learn about:
- The cremation process, and demystify common misconceptions
- Current end-of-life choices available locally
- What to consider when selecting a funeral provider
- Practical planning tips that reduce pressure on loved ones at the time of death
These tours are designed to break down barriers, offering the community the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions well in advance. It’s a unique opportunity to ask questions in a safe space and better understand a part of life that touches us all.
This event offers time and space for people to understand their options, ask questions, and plan ahead in a way that brings peace of mind to both them and their families.
Bookings are essential as places are limited. To register, call 03 6323 3600 or email carrvilla@launceston.tas.gov.au.
