Recyclable waste can be disposed of at no cost at the facility's Recycling Centre. However, all other waste disposed of at the Transfer Station will incur a fee.

For more information on how to sort your waste and save money and the environment, please read the Sort and Save Fact Sheets(PDF, 4MB).

Next to the facility is Uptipity, a second-hand shop open 8.30am to 4pm, 7 days a week (closed Christmas day and Good Friday), phone 03 6326 2214. Donations to Uptipity can be made at the Recycling Centre in the Waste Centre.

  • Clean fill - soil, rocks, concrete (no larger than a football)

  • Refrigerators and air conditioners

All items disposed of at the transfer station will be subject to either item based fees, for example, tyres, or the weight based disposal fee. Fees: All disposal fees relating to residual waste entering landfill will have a Regional Waste Levy (RWL) amount applied. The RWL amount that has been agreed by the eight northern member councils is $7.50 per tonne (GST not applicable). This amount has been added to the disposal fees. The levy will provide an annual ongoing funding stream to enable projects that support waste minimisation and recycling programs throughout the northern region through the Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group.
