Carols in the Park brings festive cheer to City Park

The City of Launceston’s Christmas celebrations will culminate in the much-loved Carols in the Park returning to majestic City Park on Sunday 21 December from 5pm.
The free community event promises a joyful evening of carol singing, dance performances and family-friendly entertainment, showcasing some of Northern Tasmania’s most talented local performers.
City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said Carols in the Park is one of the real highlights of the city’s calendar and something the community looks forward to every year.
“This event is such a special chance for our community to come together and celebrate the festive season in one of Launceston’s most beautiful spaces,” Mayor Garwood said.
“I can’t wait to see our talented local performers light up the stage and share the joy of Christmas. Bring your family and friends, pack a picnic, and settle in for a magical evening of music, community spirit — and of course, a very special visitor from the North Pole.”
The program will feature local vocalists and dancers performing all-time Christmas favourites, including Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Joy to the World and Deck the Halls.
This year local band Captain O'Brien's Craic will perform at Carols in the Park for the first time, bringing an energetic rendition of an iconic Christmas tune to the stage.
Carols in the Park will run from 5pm to 8pm, with gates open from 3pm. Food, drinks and coffee will be available onsite. Low chairs and picnic blankets are welcomed, and an accessible seating area will be available.
The Carols in the Park songbook will be available to download on the day from www.launceston.tas.gov.au/carols and Christmas colouring-in books and pencils will be available for purchase at the event.
City of Launceston’s Carols in the Park is proudly sponsored by McGrath Launceston and the official media partner is The Examiner.
