University of Tasmania business researcher Dr Louise Grimmer is conducting a research project into the impacts of COVID-19 on the Tasmanians business sector - specifically retail, hospitality and the service sector.

Tasmanian business owners and managers are invited to participate in the study by completing an anonymous online survey.

The survey consists of 20 questions and will take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

At the end of the survey, participants will have the option to enter a draw for the chance to win one of two $250 pre-paid gift cards.

Dr Grimmer is interested in hearing from those owners and managers about how COVID-19 had affected their business operations, and the types of assistance they believe will be important for the future of their business.

The findings from the study will be used to prepare a report for government outlining the challenges facing the business sector in Tasmania (based on this empirical research) and recommending business recovery and support options.

A summary of the findings will also be available for each participant to access.

Last year, Dr Grimmer authored a study for the City of Launceston, Shopping In The City, which identified factors that traders in the CBD, shoppers and stakeholders consider to be important for encouraging - or alternatively, discouraging - shopping in the Launceston CBD.
