The City of Launceston is proudly supporting Harmony Week 2026, inviting the community to embrace Launnie's rich diversity and come together for a delicious celebration of cultures at this Sunday's World Street Eats market.

Harmony Week, running from Monday 16 March to Sunday 22 March, is Australia's largest multicultural celebration – recognising the inclusiveness, respect, and sense of belonging that unites people from all backgrounds.

Whether by wearing orange to show your support, building new relationships or attending events, Harmony Week represents a chance to honour the stories, traditions, and contributions that make Launceston stronger.

As part of the City of Launceston's commitment to fostering community connections the Council supports World Street Eats event through its Events Sponsorship Program.

This monthly, community-centric market in Civic Square highlights quality cuisine and street food from around the globe, inspired by Launceston's multiculturalism.

It's a place where diverse flavours feed not just the body, but the soul, uniting locals through a shared love of heart-warming food. Join us this Sunday March 15 from 11am to 3pm in Civic Square for a Harmony Week edition of World Street Eats.

Sample global delights, connect with neighbours, and enjoy the inclusive spirit that defines our city.

City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said Harmony Week was the perfect opportunity to showcase Launceston's welcoming heart. "Launceston is a city built on diversity, with people from cultures around the globe proud to call Launnie home," Mayor Garwood said.

"World Street Eats embodies the Harmony Week message of belonging and respect, bringing people together over food that tells stories from around the world. "We encourage everyone to wear orange, grab a bite, and celebrate what makes our community so special.

"It's events like this that help create connections and prosperity for all." World Street Eats owners Allan Crooks and Priscilla McBride said they believed food played an important role in bringing people together.

"Each month, World Street Eats aims to showcase the truly diverse food cultures of Northern Tasmania,” Mr Crooks said.

"We’re proud to be hosting a speci al mid-month edition of our market to celebrate the launch of Harmony Week 2026 and encourage people who haven’t been before to come down and experience everything this event has to offer," Ms McBride said.

In addition to World Street Eats, Launceston's Town Hall will be illuminated orange for Harmony Week, and the Launceston Library will host Harmony Week Storytime at the Launceston Library on Wednesday, March 18.
