From today, motorists can use the EasyPark smartphone app in Launceston, allowing convenient cashless parking.

The app can be downloaded from Apple's App Store or Google Play. It can be used to pay for parking in Council-managed car parks and on-street meter bays across Launceston, with the exception of multistorey car parks.

The app is free to download, but charges a 10% service fee when used to pay for parking.

Coins are still accepted in all meters for those who prefer them, and electronic card payments are also accepted in Council car parks

From a user perspective, the EasyPark app will make parking in Launceston considerably easier.

Motorists will no longer need to worry about carrying change, and have the ability to only pay for the time they use. Users will also have the ability to top up their parking meter to the overall time limit of that meter. Additionally,  users can receive a reminder on their phone before their time expires.

The app will allow people to pay for their parking via their smartphone in all off-street, single storey Council car parks in:

- Bathurst Street

- York Street

- Cimitiere Street

- Willis Street

- Royal Park

- River Edge

- Inveresk

- First Basin

- Park Street

- Launceston Aquatic Centre and Memorial Hall, and

- Home Point

The EasyPark app is available free to download for Android, Apple and Windows phones.

For motorists without access to a smartphone and wishing to still use the cash-less service, there is a 1300 number available.
