Royal Park Skate Park Upgrade
A bigger and better skate park is coming to Royal Park!
In November 2023, the City of Launceston launched a community survey to better understand how people use the Royal Park Skate Park and to gather suggestions for potential upgrades.
The survey closed in January 2024, receiving 259 responses from the public. Together with feedback gathered through several stakeholder workshops and community drop-in sessions, these insights played a key role in shaping the new design by CONVIC.
Following the design phase, CONVIC was also awarded the construction contract.
From Wednesday 3 September 2025, contractors will begin building a temporary access road from Home Point Parade to the skate park. This road will be used by work vehicles and to deliver materials needed for the project. While the access road is in place, there may be some minor changes around the area, but every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
The skate park is expected to be closed to the public from September to December 2025 while upgrades are completed.
The design features an extended skate area with new elements, along with improved seating, additional rubbish bins and a drinking fountain, designed to cater to users of all skill levels. We’re excited to see this project come to life and to deliver major enhancements to this popular recreation space. View the Skate Park Concept Plan for full details.
