Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood has congratulated the winners of this year's 'Heritage Snap!' youth photography competition.

Amelie Tierney (aged 7), Darcy Moore (Aged 10), and Jasper Lee (age 14) were the three winners of this year's Heritage Snap! competition.

The Heritage Snap! competition is designed to promote Launceston's unique character and heritage diversity to the city's youth, with three $500 prizes up for grabs.

"I don't envy the judges from the City's Heritage Advisory Committee because they had the incredibly difficult job as this year's competition was very close, with a large number of remarkable photos entered," Mayor Garwood said.

Jasper Lee (Aged 14) wrote: 'I admire the Duck Reach Power Station because of its long history dating back to 1895. I have many happy memories visiting the Power Station, including times with my friends playing on the rocks or learning interesting stuff about the facility. This place has played an important role in building our industrial past and for 60 years it provided nearly all of our city’s electricity needs. For how important this building was to our community, it is sad to now see it in its current condition.'
