Residents near a planned fuel reduction burn area will receive a notice prior to the burn. During the burn operations, the area and trails around the burn will be closed to the public, with signage indicating the closure. Although the fire intensity is expected to be low, flames, smoke and ash will be generated.
Individuals with medical conditions should have a personal plan to avoid smoke exposure. Casution should be exercised for several days after the burn, as flames, smoke, and ash may still be present until the next rainfall. Advice is available from the Department of Health and Human Services or Asthma Australia.
