The Tasmanian Government has commissioned the Local Government Board to undertake a Review of the role, function, and design of local government in Tasmania. This Review is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to design a local government system that can respond to the growing demands and changing needs of our communities, now and in the decades ahead.

In December, the Board released an options paper, which lays out a broad and ambitious set of ideas and options for improving Tasmania’s current system of local government.

Now, the Board wants to test these options with the community. In early February the Board will be hosting a series of Community Meetings across Tasmania. These meetings provide the opportunity to come and discuss the draft options for local government reform. You can read the proposed options at engage.futurelocal.tas.gov.au.

All events will be held from 5.30pm-7.30pm, and will be fully catered at various locations around the state.
There will also be two online meetings at 5.30pm on the 13 and 14 February.
